Why create this site?
My name is Roger, and I am Amy, and we created Paystr.com because we were tired of not having an secure, easy way to reliably collect money or pay a friend or other people.
Specifically, we developed Paystr because we did not have the $12.50 in exact cash, per the teacher's request, for our son's field trip the next morning to the local cider mill. It was 8:00pm the night before the field trip.
I rarely carry cash anymore and my wife had a $20.00 bill, which she had gotten from the ATM two days ago. Like everyone we had 50 cents in loose change lying around on top of the microwave, but that did not solve the exact cash problem. Our solution was to go to the grocery store up on the corner. We bought some milk, skim for me, 2% for the kids, and then made sure that we got at least a $10.00 bill and 2 singles in change.
Half-an-hour, and much aggravation later, we finally had the exact amount for the field trip. At this point we thought there has to be a better way for people on both ends of this equation to deal with collecting money, hence Paystr.
We are Different
Paystr is a 100% free, secure, online listing and payment site. You will notice everything on this site is done so that you can quickly be paid by individuals or groups and or pay someone yourself without having to setup up accounts where they hold your money. Also, we make it easy to be paid even if you do not list something. Just have someone fill out an 'I Owe U' listing. All transaction are handled by PayPal. We don't see, nor do we keep any financial information. We do not take a fee for listing items. It is completely free to do so. However, PayPal does take its transaction fee, but then again any body that processes a credit card transaction online takes a fee, not much we can do about that. We do, when you list, help you figure out what those transaction fees will be and then you can determine who pays them, you or the person paying you. Paystr.com is here to make a difference and help make peoples lives a little bit easier, especially at a time when people carry less and less cash.
